All About Kitchen Appliances
Appliances make the kitchen.
There are three common pieces that every kitchen must have: fridge, stove/fan, dishwasher. The size and style of these appliances will dictate the storage capacity, style of the kitchen and its functionality.
If the space is relatively small, I always recommend that clients look at small size appliances. For example, a counter-depth fridge, that’s either 24” or 30” will suit a small kitchen much more than a 36” or 42” fridge. If the fridge is integrated (with door design panels), it’s a bonus. Integrated fridges are made to look like a pantry, therefore, totally disappearing.
If the space is large, multiple appliances can be incorporated. If a 36” fridge is selected, an additional fridge drawer or beverage fridge can be added for additional storage. Wall ovens can also be incorporated in the design to create more than one cooking station.
I always tell my clients, the size of the appliance must reflect the size of the space. Talk to a designer before making any purchases to ensure the sizes will work with the current space.
